Why we chose this book: This book explores issues with mental health and family relationships. Embry, the school counselor, talks to Finch about his suicidal thoughts and asks to meet. It shows how two people who seem like complete opposites may have more in common than you. But as Violets world grows, Finchs begins to shrink. They also try to help when Violet admits Finchs suicidal thoughts.
These movies often have teachable moments. Finch and Violet meet here which sets the entire tone for the story. Families can talk about movies like All the Bright Places that deal with important issues facing teens.
